How long had he been here? Time was a commodity which was easy to lose track of in Wakanda, not to mention the equally breathtaking and distracting scenery. But Hank wasn’t here for the scenery, or the numerous luxuries that the palace and people had to offer.

Vibranium. That is what had brought him here in the first place. Thankfully, T’Challa had convinced the council elders to allow a few privileged “outsiders” access to the inner walls of the small independent country. At the very least, Hank didn’t have to worry about wandering freely about the vibranium reserves let alone the vast wilderness that surrounded Wakanda without becoming fodder for the many traps that were laid out to deter unwanted guests.

Recording the results from the battery of tests he had subjected the current sample of the element to, the question rose to him again. How long had he been here? Hank decided to put this nagging question to rest and requested the log information from the central computer’s database. He only now realized that he had in fact made Wakanda his home for almost two years. Two years? Had it really been that long? Well, after analyzing the complexities of the element, two years sounded about right. He realized, and made the conscious decision, that maybe a visit back home was in order. He was sure that Fury would be more than interested in his findings, and the newfound alliance he would be able to form with the Wakandan government.

Feeling he had attained all the information he felt he could at the moment, Hank stepped out of the personal lab provided for him and decided to take the place he had called home for the past two years. Listening to the sound of the cicadas in the trees, he took in the scent of the plant life around him. Watching the people perform their daily tasks, Hank had realized that they had truly lived a life of self-sufficiency, free of worry. He only hope that creating an alliance with them wouldn’t bring ruin to the life they had created. He had grown attached to them, the people of this tiny country, and he would like to think that the feeling was mutual. He gained their trust, and in return, he was given unlimited access to everything. The vibranium reserves, the technological advancements (which far exceeded anything he had ever encountered or examined before), and of course, their culture. It was settled. He decided to request an audience with the T’Challa, and inform him of his immediate departure.

The next few days proved to be interesting as Hank only realized how much one can accumulate over a long period of time. It was funny to think he had only arrived with the bare necessities; everything else was provided for him upon his arrival to Wakanda. When his request to speak to T’Challa was granted, he was escorted by one of the palace officials to the great throne room, where he and the Wakandan king were left to speak in peace. Hank knew he could have very easily approached T’Challa, but he wanted to respect the authority and position of the man who ruled the country.

“Doctor Pym, always a pleasure to see you. What brings you to me today? Was there anything else you are in need of?”

“No, I have everything I need, T’Challa, thank you. What I wanted to discuss with you was my return to America; I didn’t want to leave without some sort of clearance. I understand that the information I’ve had privilege to is highly classified and you wouldn’t just let it wander out of your country unnoticed.”

“Well said, Pym. I appreciate your concern in the matter. Your request is granted, and I do trust that you will not exploit my people or the resources of Wakanda. I do want to know; have you found all that you were looking for in your stay with us?”

“Yes, I have, thank you. The vabranim; it’s elemental properties are unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I wanted you to know that what you have here is priceless.”

“Yes, I am aware of that. My people have gone through great lengths to ensure this nation's protection against those who would seek to destroy it.”

“I have no doubt that you and your people have had your troubles before. But I hope you know that you can trust me, T’Challa.”

“Of course I can trust you. I would never have agreed to you staying with us if I didn’t. The people have grown very fond of you, as have I. You will always have a place here with us. “

“Thank you. I’ll contact you when I return to America.”

“Please do so, Doctor Pym. May you be granted a safe journey to your homeland."

After his meeting with T’Challa, Hank made the necessary arrangements for his immediate departure and knew that the first thing on his agenda was to contact Nick Fury. Well there was someone he hadn’t talked to in a long time. While he was nearing U.S. airspace, he decided to see if he could establish contact with him, and activated appropriate frequency.

“This is Doctor Henry Pym requesting contact with Colonel Nick Fury."
